Body building seems like a really healthy thing to do. After all, it requires constant exercise and nutrition and while most body builders work out correctly others take it too far and it ends up costing them in a big way. Here are some examples of body builders who stopped at nothing to get the results they wanted, but ended up with other side effects.

Chad Brothers was a bodybuilder from New York. He was working out on a treadmill at Gold’s Gym when he tripped and fell. At that point, Brothers flew into a rage. The police were called, and even they could not calm him. So they shot him with two Tasers. He died about an hour later. Found in his system were steroids and PCP.

Greg Kovacs

Greg Kovacs was known for his alarming off-season weight gain and his commitment to shaping up in time for a new season of competitions. During off season, his weight would reach 400 pounds. He competed throughout the late 90s, and retired in 2005. He suffered heart failure at the age of 44.

Dan Puckett

Mike Matarazzo

Mike Matarazzo was a famous bodybuilder in the late 80s and early 90s. He was 6 foot 10 and 250 pounds. He competed for a decade on the IFBB bodybuilding circuit. Then he developed a bad heart, suffered two heart attacks, and died at the age of 48.

Gary Himing

Gary Himing, a world famous bodybuilder, died on stage in 2009. The cause of death was a heart attack. He was competing in a sanctioned competition in Australia. At an age too young to die, Gary Himing died doing what he loved.

Scott Klein

Scott Klein was a competitive bodybuilder in the 90s and early 00s. He scored a number of heavyweight rankings, probably with the help of steroids. Then he went on to become a trainer. Scott Klein died of kidney failure at the age of 30.

Andreas Munzer

Andreas Munzer looked like a superhero cartoon. He had cut down his body fat percentage to near zero. He died in 1996 at the age of 32. The cause of death was organ failure.

Bertile Fox

When Bertile Fox took up bodybuilding, he became an instant success at a very high level. To achieve this, he relied heavily on Human Growth Hormone (HGH). This led to an aggressively imbalanced brain. He ended up murdering his ex-fiancée and her mother. He was sentenced to life in prison.

 

There should be a limit to whatever you decide to do to your body.
